Joint Commission Accreditation

Accreditation for the Joint Commission means meeting or exceeding specific standards relating to quality of care, treatment and services. WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital maintains an accreditation from the Joint Commission.


Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs Certification

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital’s Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs have been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification recognizes our commitment to improving the quality of life for patients by enhancing standards of care in these rehabilitation programs.


American College of Surgeons Accreditation

The Ephrata Cancer Center at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital is accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), facilitated by the American College of Surgeons. During the accreditation process the hospital demonstrated compliance with standards which focus on center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.


Det Norske Veritas – Germanischer Lloyd Accreditation

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital was certified with a three-year accreditation from DNV-GL in 2018. The hospital is certified for both heart failure and primary stroke.


Get with the Guidelines

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has achieved the following from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) awards:

  • Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement award
  • Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement award
  • Special recognition on the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite

The GWTG awards recognize the hospital meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and heart-care-related patients.


Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has been recognized for delivering high-quality, effective and cost-efficient specialty care by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Meeting specific quality standards has provided the hospital with the opportunity to become a Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care and Knee and Hip Replacement. WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital is also a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care.


Well Workplace Award

During the 2017 Well Workplace Awards WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital received a Platinum Well Workplace Award from the LiveWell Lancaster County Coalition, the Lancaster County Business Group on Health and the Lighten Up Lancaster County Coalition.


Pathway to Excellence

ANCC-Pathway Designated -blueThe American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) awarded WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital with Pathway to Excellence status. Similar to ANCC's Magnet Program, Pathway to Excellence is designed for smaller hospitals and focuses on the importance of a positive professional environment for nurses and its impact on the quality of care provided to patients.


Comprehensive Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program is overseen by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital went through a rigorous review of the practices and care to earn the distinction.


Leapfrog 'A' Grade Designation

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has earned the highest designation of an 'A' grade.
