Welcome to Respiratory Care Services at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital

Respiratory Care Services at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital is made up of a highly skilled team of respiratory therapists who specialize in the care of all patients with pulmonary illness and disease. As part of your health care team, the respiratory therapist provides therapies such as medication delivery, breathing exercises and management of mechanical ventilation. The Respiratory Care Services Department also provides disease management and education. Respiratory care is a 24/7 department; there are always therapists available to provide treatment and assist the care team.

Along with our wide variety of inpatient therapies, we also provide outpatient pulmonary diagnostics and the only regionally certified pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Pulmonary Diagnostic Testing

Pulmonary diagnostics covers all outpatient diagnostic procedures offered by Respiratory Care Services.

These services include:

  • Blood gas analysis
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Home oxygen evaluations and oximetry testing

Our Patients

Our customers include all patients that may need testing for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory or pulmonary conditions. This includes children and adults who may suffer from conditions such as COPD, asthma, lung cancer, etc. Early detection of pulmonary diseases helps our patients lead high-quality lives.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary rehabilitation is an exercise and education program for patients who suffer from lung diseases. The goal of PR is to improve your everyday life by reducing your symptoms so you can do more of the things you enjoy.

Our Patients 

Patients who benefit from PR are those who have moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis and those preparing for and recovering from lung surgeries.

Our pulmonary rehabilitation program uses a collaborative approach to provide quality care. The multi-disciplinary team includes: respiratory therapists, pulmonologists, exercise physiologists, dieticians, pharmacists, social service workers and occupational therapists.
