Medical Oncology refers to treatment of cancer with medicines to kill or control cancer cells. These treatments may include chemotherapy, immune therapy or targeted therapy. Treatments may be given intravenously, or in some cases, in pill form. Cancer treatment is carefully managed to reduce the intensity of side effects and allow it to be better tolerated by the patient.
Certified laser-guided radiation therapy as well as image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) is provided through our True Beam linear accelerator unit. This state-of-the-art system can treat both superficial skin cancers and larger, deeper cancers using a variety of treatments, including Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). The True Beam Linear Accelerator delivers precise radiation doses to a narrowly focused area around the tumor, while protecting healthy tissue within millimeter accuracy, with quicker treatment times. Before treatment begins, a customized treatment plan is created for each patient. Using the latest CT Simulator technology, clinicians can accurately measure the size and shape of tumors to create this personalized plan to deliver precise radiation doses to the tumor while protecting healthy tissue.
