Agency is the only in southcentral Pa. celebrating fourth consecutive year as a ‘Top Agency’
WellSpan Health announced today that WellSpan VNA Home Care has been named a Top Agency of the 2017 HomeCare Elite®, a recognition of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States.
It’s the fourth consecutive year WellSpan VNA Home Care has been recognized – making it the longest active Top Agency award streak in southcentral Pennsylvania.
“Very rarely does an organization achieve the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies for a single year. To receive this honor four years in a row is an extraordinary achievement,” said Barbara Yarrish, senior vice president of post-acute services for WellSpan Health, and president of WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital. “This is a testament to our talented staff who understand the significant impact they have by administering exceptional care in the comfort of a patient’s home.”
WellSpan VNA Home Care offers home health services, including specialized staff of visiting nurses, aides, therapists and specialized caregivers who work with physicians to care for patients who don't need to be hospitalized, but do need health care at home.
On average, the agency cares for approximately 1,100 patients in Adams, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties every day.
“Our success stems from our commitment to our patients and dedication to great care outcomes,” said Sandra Bennis, vice president of home care for WellSpan Health. “What could be a top 2016 score may not be the next year as other agencies around the country are improving. This award shows that we continue to build on our past successes.”
Winners are determined by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, best practices implementation, patient experience, quality improvement and consistency and financial health. To be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least three outcomes in Home Health Compare.
The ranking is developed by ABILITY® Network, a leading information technology company helping providers and payers simplify the administrative and clinical complexities of healthcare; and sponsored by DecisionHealth, publisher of Home Health Line and the Complete Home Health ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Coding Manual.
“The team at WellSpan VNA Home Care has demonstrated an impressive ability to deliver great patient care,” said Christine Lang, senior director for ABILITY Network. “This is due to the skill and dedication of their clinical professionals, as well as the proficiency and efforts of their quality team tracking, measuring and interpreting the data that supports the delivery of care. Together, they have earned this recognition as one of the top home care agencies in the country.”
“Congratulations to those leading agencies that earned a spot on HomeCare Elite,” said Marci Heydt, senior content manager for DecisionHealth. “WellSpan VNA Home Care and its peers have worked hard to improve quality outcomes.”
