WellSpan Health president & chief executive officer recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives

YORK, Pa. (JUNE 22, 2021) – WellSpan Health is pleased to announce that Roxanna Gapstur, Ph.D., R.N., president and chief executive officer, has been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the nation’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives and is the only honoree from South Central Pennsylvania.

The recognition program acknowledges clinicians working in the healthcare industry who are deemed by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential in terms of demonstrating leadership and impact. Clinical leadership champions evidence-based approaches that will mitigate the impact of the pandemic and address the longstanding health inequities that have become even clearer as a result of the crisis.

“I’m incredibly honored to share this recognition with fantastic leaders across the country, especially amid the challenges and opportunities we’ve all faced in the past year,” said Gapstur. “The WellSpan team has relentlessly pursued our vision to reimagine healthcare, and I’m proud to share this honor with our team, 20,000 strong.”

“The 2021 class of 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives did not shy away from the challenges of caring for patient populations during a pandemic. They found inspiration in knocking down hurdles and fighting for top quality care for their patients and staff,” said Modern Healthcare editor, Aurora Aguilar. “They improved cancer screening outcomes by incorporating in-home test kits and secured more diversity for future clinician ranks. Modern Healthcare congratulates this class and appreciates their hard work.”

The complete ranking is featured in the June 21 issue of Modern Healthcare. Click here to view Dr. Gapstur’s online profile among the other honorees.
