WellSpan Health this week opened its newest and largest urgent care center, increasing access to non-emergency care for residents in York County.

The 7,000-square-foot center opened to patients on Monday, Sept. 16. It is conveniently located at 2149 S. Queen St. in York, just off Interstate 83 Exit 16 at the former South York Diner.

“Providing a high-quality and convenient care experience for patients is our goal with WellSpan Urgent Care,” said Thomas McGann, M.D., executive vice president for clinical practice, WellSpan Health. “This location just off the interstate gives our neighbors in York County easy access to our expert physicians and advanced practice clinicians – close to home.”

The South York urgent care center has eight exam rooms. It is the fifth WellSpan Urgent Care in York County and the 12th across central Pennsylvania. Other York County locations include: West York, East Market Street in York, Hanover and Shrewsbury.

All WellSpan Urgent Care locations in York County are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, caring for patients age 3 months and older suffering from coughs and minor illnesses to strains and possible bone fractures. X-ray services are also available at these locations.

Due to its close proximity to the South York urgent care center, WellSpan CareExpress, at 2058 S. Queen St., has closed. Patients are invited to transition their walk-in care to WellSpan Urgent Care for a wider range of services and more expansive hours.

WellSpan Urgent Care patients can take advantage of an online service called “Reserve My Spot,” which allows them to choose a time slot that suits their schedule. This can be done via smartphones, computer, tablets or at an in-person check-in kiosk at the office.

“When it comes to urgent care, we looked at every aspect of the process that we could simplify and streamline,” said Creston Tate, D.O., WellSpan medical director of urgent care. “From the ‘Reserve My Spot’ service to the convenient locations and hours, our goal is to get you the care you need to get you back on your way as quickly as possible.”
