WellSpan Health announces new vice president to lead home care services

Monday, April 03, 2017

Sandra Bennis officially joined WellSpan as vice president of home care.

WellSpan Health announced today the selection of Sandra Bennis as vice president of Home Care for WellSpan Health.

Bennis assumed her role following a national search. In her role, Bennis oversees the operations of WellSpan VNA Home Care across the regional health system, as well as WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospice in Lebanon County.

She joins WellSpan with 35 years of experience in community health. In her most recent position, Bennis served as the director of strategic initiatives for the Moorestown VNA and Hospice in Moorestown, N.J.

“Sandy is a very engaging and energetic leader with deep knowledge about health care and significant experience in home care within a larger health system,” said Barbara Yarrish, senior vice president of post-acute services for WellSpan Health, and president of WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital.

WellSpan post-acute services support patients who no longer require an acute care hospital, but still need care. These services include WellSpan VNA Home Care, which provides specialized staff of visiting nurses, aides, therapists and caregivers who work with physicians to care for patients in their homes, rather than in the hospital.

In her new role, Bennis will work to identify ways to increase access to care and improve the overall patient experience, among other key initiatives. She’ll also play a key role in WellSpan’s ongoing efforts to develop innovative approaches to post-acute care and population health.

“I am very excited for the opportunity,” Bennis said. “WellSpan is a progressive system in the ambulatory area and I was very impressed with that.”
