WellSpan York Hospital will experience traffic changes on its campus beginning next week as a result of a construction project occurring near the hospital’s Main Entrance.
Starting Monday, Oct. 15, a new, temporary traffic pattern will be in place to access WellSpan York Hospital’s Main Entrance. Construction occurring at the North Entrance of the hospital will require the partial closure of the traffic circle adjacent to the Main Entrance.
All vehicle traffic approaching the Main Entrance of the hospital from Rathton Road will be rerouted through the first entrance of the main visitor parking garage, just across from the Medical Education Pavilion. Traffic will exit the garage to the Main Entrance. Motorists will then be routed around the open portion of the traffic circle, back through the garage and out toward the Rathton Road exit.
In addition, the rabbittransit bus stop and the stop for the shuttle running between the hospital and the Apple Hill Health Campus will be temporarily relocated from the vicinity of the Main Entrance to the Emergency Department entrance, effective Monday, Oct. 15.
Directional signage and enhanced patient-and-visitor support services will be in place to ensure patients, visitors and staff are able to easily get to their destination on the hospital campus.
The traffic detour and related changes are expected to be in place for about a year.
