Following a successful tennis tournament at the Country Club of York this summer, organizers of the third annual Mixed Doubles Charity Classic have made a $30,000 donation to the WellSpan York Health Foundation to support the regional health system’s efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in York County.

The WellSpan York Health Foundation is a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of the local community by supporting the York-based entities of WellSpan Health.

The donation from the tournament will aid in increasing public awareness and access to non-opioid pain management treatment through WellSpan’s alternative pain management program, including the expansion of the WellSpan Center for Mind/Body Health’s Community Acupuncture program. For example, funds would reduce the cost for those with financial limitations seeking this alternative pain treatment.

The tennis tournament, presented by The Apartment Gallery, was held July 15 and 16 at the Country Club of York in Spring Garden Township. Throughout the event, 32 regional and national tennis players competed for the $3,500 purse.
