The Akron Lions Club recently donated a Brady Buggy to the pediatric unit at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

The buggy is a wagon that allows children to have a fun form of transportation to procedures or tests while in the hospital or to even get a break from their hospital room and take a ride in the hallways. It has a hitch that can tow an intravenous pole.

“We are so grateful for the generosity of the Lions Club,” said Melissa Fry, nurse manager at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. “The buggy brightens the hospital stay of our youngest patients.”

The purchase of the Brady Buggy was funded by the sale of the Akron Lions Club’s famous grilled toasted cheeseburgers at the Ephrata Fair.

The buggies are named after Brady Wells, a toddler from New Jersey who died from leukemia in 2010 and whose parents founded a non-profit foundation in his honor.
