Open House scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8

WellSpan Medical Group’s newest primary care practice, WellSpan Family Medicine (WFM), located at 1401 Roosevelt Ave., York, opened on Monday, Nov. 18.

“The goal is keeping our patients, and our community healthy,” said Thomas McGann, MD, senior vice president clinical practice, president WellSpan Medical Group.  "We are excited to be establishing a brand new family medicine practice in North York. WellSpan did not have a family medicine practice in this part of the community and believes there is a need for family medicine providers here."

Brandon Dearman, MD, and Quincy Harberger, MD, are the two primary care physicians working at WFM – Roosevelt Ave. They began seeing patients at Hayshire Family Medicine at the end of the summer to build their patient panels. They transitioned to the new location on Nov. 18.

The new building has an open concept, similar to other facilities WellSpan has opened in recent years. The practice has six exam rooms and one procedure room. That is an added convenience for patients as they will not have to travel to another facility for minor procedures.

The building has many of the modern features and conveniences that patients have come to expect from a health care provider. WellSpan wants to create an environment that is comfortable and calming for patients.

“The office will have an on-stage/off-stage approach that has been used successfully in some of our other facilities and has proven to work well,” stated Dearman. “This approach, which was adopted from Disney, has separate hallways for patients and providers. This helps to keep the hallways less congested and provides for better traffic flow within the building.”

Dearman and Harberger attended medical school together and went through residency at WellSpan York Hospital together.

“I am very excited to be a part of a brand new WellSpan Medical Group family medicine practice,” said Harberger. “Both Dr. Dearman and I are very familiar with WellSpan’s family medicine practices. It is an incredible opportunity for us to be able to work together to help establish and build and this practice.”

WellSpan Family Medicine – Roosevelt Ave. is hosting an open house Dec. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. Come meet Dr. Dearman, Dr. Harberger and the staff. Tour the facility, participate in free health screenings & risk assessments and enjoy light refreshments. Children can even bring their favorite stuffed animal for a “check up.”
