CASHS Lincoln Intermediate and Learning Support

WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital works with Chambersburg Area High School LIU and Learning Support Teachers to offer a Cooperative work experience for students in the Environmental Services and Food & Nutrition Department. This program is offered during the school year, Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. Placements are only coordinated with the CASHS teachers and the Organization Performance and Effectiveness Department representative.

Cooperative Education (COOP) Program

Cooperative Education, also known at some high schools as senior internship, is an opportunity for high school seniors to spend time learning and volunteering within our WellSpan Health facility. This program is for local students who are interested in healthcare. The opportunity is available during a school calendar year, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM. You must meet certain requirements and placements are based on a first come first serve basis if available.

Healthcare Career Institute (HCI)

The Healthcare Career Institute (HCI) is an award-winning career exploration program in Pennsylvania geared towards students currently in grades 10 and 11. The program seeks to educate youth who are interested in learning more about working in the healthcare field.

Individuals who are eligible include students that attend public, private or home schools in Franklin County. Note: students who are homeschooled must reside at an address in the county.

Requirements: Students who can apply must currently be in grades 10 and 11, have at least a 3.2 grade point average (GPA), excellent attendance and be in very good standing with their science and math grades.

The start date for the winter/spring session will run for 18 weeks from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. following the school calendar. Second semester session (only for 2024) start date is to be determined.

Information Sessions

HCI Zoom sessions are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 23, or Tues. Feb. 7. Both sessions begin at 7 p.m. Contact Angie to reserve your spot for one of the sessions. 

Medcamp

Med Camp is a collaborative program with Penn State Mont Alto that allows student to have a hands-on experience in health care for a week in the summer. You must be entering 9th or 10th grade and have an interest in health care. To apply and learn more go to http://montalto.psu.edu/medcamp.
