WellSpan Radiography Program

WellSpan Radiography Program

WellSpan's Radiography Program prepares you as a healthcare professional by training you to use ionizing radiation in a technically advanced, ever-changing environment. As a radiographer, your responsibilities include the performance of x-ray examinations under physician direction, delivering excellent patient care, and performing quality radiologic exams with the use of radiographic equipment, computers, and other imaging tools. Our mission and goals guide our program to help you obtain the skills you need for an entry-level radiography job.

In addition to the academic requirements, our program takes other technical standards into consideration for admission. Radiographers are exposed to a variety of patients, including the critically ill and injured. Individuals interested in pursuing a career in radiography must possess compassion, superb interpersonal skills, and the desire to work with advanced technology.

Here are just three of the many reasons you should consider WellSpan's Radiography Program when choosing your training for your career as a radiographer:

  • Our program is nationally accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the only accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education in radiography.

  • As a student of our program, you learn your skills through both classroom instruction and hands-on, practical training at our clinical sites.

  • As a graduate of our program you are eligible to apply to take the national certification exam which is necessary for employment as a radiographer. Over the past five years, our graduates have achieved a program effectiveness of more than a 98 percent pass rate for this exam.

For more information about the WellSpan Health Radiography Program, call (717) 812-3599.

Please note: Beginning January 1, 2015, to be eligible to sit for the National Registry Examination offered through the ARRT, the participant will need to have an associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree from an institution accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.

For this reason, Wellspan’s Radiography Program is proud to introduce a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiography through an articulation agreement with York College and a Medical Imaging Bachelor of Science degree through an articulation agreement with Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Students would complete two years of academic preparation through York College or Bloomsburg University followed by WellSpan’s twenty-three month program. Acceptance of the student into WellSpan’s Radiography Program is at the discretion of the program’s admission committee.
