Information to Community Clergy

Spiritual Care and Education supports patients with their spiritual and religious resources by facilitating the ministry of their clergy and faith groups.

  1. No information is provided to community clergy without the permission of the patient or family permission.
  2. Upon receiving permission from patients or their family provided at admission, Spiritual Care and Education provides notice of admission to area clergy and/or congregations while respecting the privacy and confidentiality of patients and families.
  3. With the patient’s and/or family’s permission, we may notify a clergy person in the event of a parishioner’s unexpected medical deterioration or death.
  4. The Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg appoints the Catholic Chaplain to York Hospital and charges him with the responsibility of spiritual and sacramental care of all Catholic patients. If the patient declines a visit by the Catholic chaplain the patient name will not be included on the Catholic chaplain’s visitation list.
