WellSpan Health is proud to present Brain Busters, WGAL’s academic quiz show highlighting the academic excellence of high school students throughout central Pennsylvania. WellSpan Health Brain Busters, hosted by Rich Rosen, runs October through May and culminates with a championship match awarding winning schools with a total of $10,000. Join us to celebrate these academic heroes by tuning in Sunday afternoons on WGAL.

At WellSpan, we value education and look for ways to prepare the next generation of health care workers. Students interested in science, biology, technology, math or medicine might find a health sciences career to be a match for their skills. Medical Lab ScienceMedical Lab Science

Want to work behind the scenes as a medical detective? A career in medical lab science might be right for you. Medical lab scientists work in hospitals and other labs and use complex instruments, often interfaced with computers, to analyze blood, body fluids and tissues.

Would you like to help people breathe a little easier? Respiratory care is a specialty focusing on the pulmonary system, including patients needing emergency attention and those who suffer from chronic respiratory difficulties such as asthma, emphysema, bronchitis and cystic fibrosis.

PhlebotomyPhlebotomy

Would you enjoy working with a variety of patients, creating a positive experience as they have blood drawn? Phlebotomists collect patients' blood, as well as process other specimens, such as urine and stool for laboratory tests in hospitals, laboratory sites and medical offices.

Would you like to see what's happening inside a person's body? If you have an eye for detail and an interest in science, consider a career as a radiographer. As a radiographer, you would perform x-rays and use other radiographic equipment, computers and other imaging tools to deliver patient care at hospitals, imaging centers and medical offices.

NurseNurse Anesthetist

Would you like working in an operating room at a hospital, being the eyes and ears for patients during surgical procedures? The nurse anesthetist functions in the role of advocate during the period of the patient’s unconscious or decreased levels of cognition during surgery.
