Class or Event QPR Suicide Prevention Training
Start Date 10/25/2018   6:00 PM
End Date 10/25/2018   9:00 PM
Description WellSpan Philhaven is pleased to offer QPR suicide prevention training to members of our community. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer - three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.

Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

QPR is a nationally certified program taught by certified trainers. Those completing the course will receive a certificate. The course focuses on training individuals to be Gatekeepers - someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide.

Gatekeepers can be anyone but include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.

QPR Gatekeeper Training teaches you:
- How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal
- How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide
- The common causes of suicidal behavior
- The warning signs of suicide
- How to get help for someone in crisis
