Description:

This training will review developmental needs targeting persons with autism from 15 to 21 years of age. Along with physical and social development, planning needs for life domain areas for transition to adulthood will be addressed. These life domains include vocation, community involvement, guardianship needs, leisure activity choice, independent living, social relationships and financial needs. Presenter is Hans Dovenspike, M.Ed, LBS, BCBA.

Rationale:

  1. Improved knowledge of needs related to persons with developmental disabilities as they transition to adulthood.
  2. Identify areas where clinicians can provide support.
  3. Identify systems for developmental needs assessment for development of treatment packages.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Increase knowledge of developmental life domains and needs for individuals with Autism and developmental disabilities from age 15 into adulthood.
  2. Will be able to identify supports for these individuals for successful transition into adulthood.
