Description:

This is a virtual 16-week, 1-hour, open admission group. Approval into the group depends on the screening appointment with the group providers. 

Do you feel like your emotions switch on you multiple times throughout the day? Are you having trouble in your relationships? In the DBT Informed Skills Group, individuals will be presented the opportunity to process their emotions, discussing the changes that are made. Group provides individuals the opportunity to learn skills that can help aid in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. Group can provide members the opportunity to better assess their relationships and the crucial role they themselves play in these relationships. Group sessions will focus on: 

  • Ability to be more mindful of emotions 
  • Attending to relationships, balances priorities and demands 
  • Controlling emotions and processing them in a safe manner 
  • Managing emotions and using appropriate coping skills 

Group members must be at least 15 to 18 years old. Due to group requirements, new participants will be invited to meet with a group leader individually before starting group sessions. Participants cannot have active psychosis, active addiction, or active SI/HI symptoms. Participant cannot have a diagnosis of anti-social personality disorder.

Instructions:

This group meets on Mondays from 5:00 to 6:00 pm with group leaders Brienna Derr, LCSW and Valerie Kauffman, MA. While all efforts will be made to assist you in entering a group as quickly as possible, you may need to be temporarily added to a waitlist.
