Boundary issues are the most common ethical problems reported by mental health professionals and their most frequent source of ethics complaints. Dr. Knapp will offer principle-based ethics as a helpful method to resolve ethical dilemmas related to boundaries and other issues. Case examples will be presented for participants to evaluate. Of course, mental health professionals do not practice with Spock-like rationality. This workshop also asks participants to consider how non-rational factors may influence their decision-making processes -- for better or for worse -- and suggests the importance of self-care and self-reflection in living up to our ethical ideals. 3 APA CE Credits for Psychologists or Social Worker Credits -- meets Ethics requirements. WellSpan Philhaven has pre-approval from the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor continuing education credits to Pennsylvania Licensed Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Professional Counselors. Presenter: Samuel Knapp, EdD is a PPA Member, graduate from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania Director of Professional Affairs and a Member of PA Psychological Association. Dr. Knapp has written almost 100 peer reviewed articles and conducted almost 500 professional workshops, most of them dealing with ethical issues.
