Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

When I was in the first grade, my father told our family that he was dying. He wanted us to know why it was that he would be going to see doctors and nurses so much. He would be in and out of hospitals and explained that he wasn't sure how long he would live. I did not realize that our family's journey over the next 10 years would have such an influence on me, but it did. I am glad my father lived longer than expected and grateful for the many people who took care of him and us along the way. Wanting to care for patients and their loved ones who journey with them is why I became a doctor.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I enjoy meeting with patients to find and share answers for their health concerns related to pregnancy. It is rewarding to work with patients and their loved ones to develop and apply the most ideal care currently available for them and their developing children during pregnancy. What I hope patients see and feel about me, as a physician and as a human being, is that I am devoted to their care and well-being. Though medical science cannot answer all the questions we sometimes have, we are fortunate to live in an age where new findings and answers appear literally every day. Together, my patients and I take advantage of the knowledge available to provide the best plan for delivering a healthy baby (or babies) to a healthy mom.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

I am involved in community services that address those who suffer with addiction. My wife and I serve as group leaders for addiction recovery meetings. We have the wonderful experience of assisting in the recovery of men and women who suffer from addictions. These men and women show such courage and honesty in their recovery. My wife and I feel very blessed and honored to work with them. I love to be outdoors almost anytime in any weather. I love doing genealogy and have family roots in southcentral PA going back to the 1700s. For some of my patients, we are (extended) family.
