Overview of the Situation:
There has been the identification of a novel coronavirus originally emerged from Wuhan City, China, which has resulted in thousands of confirmed cases across the globe. This virus has been named as COVID-19. WellSpan Health is monitoring the current status and will provide regular updates here for our community physician partners.
There is evidence of person-to-person transmission of COVID-19. WHO/CDC are recommending patients are placed in airborne, droplet (to include eye protection if wearing a N95) and contact isolation while being evaluated and cared for.

Evaluation and Treatment/Testing Collection Sites
As WellSpan responds to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) across Pennsylvania, part of our work has been to deploy the use of dedicated (and sometimes fully open-air) evaluation and/or treatment/testing collection sites across the health system.
These sites will be for patients that have previously been evaluated for coronavirus (COVID-19) and a determination made that they be tested. These WellSpan sites are not meant for walk-in patients.
COVID Testing and Evaluation/Treatment Sites
Pre-Procedure COVID-19 Testing Sites
All medical group practices are screening patients, and if deemed a risk then they are directed to these locations. Patients are encouraged to call their primary care provider to be evaluated for potential testing. If a patient doesn’t have a primary care provider they can take advantage of an online screening tool at www.WellSpan.org/Coronavirus to determine if they may be at risk for COVID-19. Also, patients are encouraged to use WellSpan Online Urgent Care to be seen quickly and safely, without the need to travel to a care location. Patients should visit www.WellSpan.org/OUC to get started. Finally, a Coronavirus Information Hotline has been established for patients that may have questions. Call toll-free at (855) 851-3641. The line is open daily from 8:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
These dedicated sites limit the potential spread of the COVID-19 disease and will help preserve negative airflow rooms at WellSpan hospitals for the sickest patients who need treatment for their symptoms.
