Resources for Community Partners
WellSpan has been working continuously to prepare for the COVID-19 (coronavirus) issue, as Pennsylvania continues to see an increase in confirmed cases. We are here to support our community partner organizations. As a start, we want to share some information and resources with you to help you prepare during the uncertainty of the rapidly changing situation with this virus.
Where Can We Get Updated Information on COVID-19 for Community Groups?

Here are some resources about COVID-19 for you to use as you communicate with those you serve.
Slow the Spread Grant Program
WellSpan Health is providing emergency community partnership grants to help support community partners during this time of need. Organizations that qualify as not-for-profit, tax-exempt and that serve the communities in WellSpan Health’s service area may apply for a Community Partnership Grant. Grants to individuals, for-profit entities and organizations outside of the service area will not be considered.

A variety of sources provide information for coping with the natural worries with coronavirus:

What About Essential Services?
Consider carefully how essential services can be maintained during this time. Carefully consider the risk and benefit to vulnerable populations, including seniors and those who have pre-existing medical conditions such as heart or lung conditions or diabetes.
For those services such as food pantries that remain open during COVID-19, please consider all ways you can limit potential spread, such as limiting traffic and encouraging social distancing, having supplies such as hand sanitizer available for staff/volunteers and customers, and regular cleaning and sanitization.
What to Do If Exposed
The most important thing for anyone who thinks they might have or been exposed to the virus is to contact their primary care provider. WellSpan.org/Coronavirus contains information specific to COVID-19 and WellSpan’s response and resources related to the virus.
WellSpan also has an online Coronavirus Assessment Tool available:

Should We Continue to Hold Programs & Events?
Most public events are being cancelled at this time to slow community spread of COVID-19. Many community centers, places of worship, and other community gathering spots are closed. Follow guidelines set forth by federal, state and local governments, as well as the Pa. Department of Health and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
WellSpan is also sharing its decision tree on deciding which events and programs to cancel/reschedule due to COVID-19.
How Do We Keep in Touch?
For groups that hold meetings or in-person gatherings, consider video options or phone calls instead.
Have an email list or phone tree for staff, volunteers and members available so that important information can be communicated quickly. This can be used to communicate operational changes, as well as to check on each other and keep in touch with friends and neighbors.
