Please Help Now

WellSpan’s healthcare heroes are out on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis – every day – protecting and defending the lives of our patients. Our doctors, nurses, technicians and staff are working together, around the clock, to deal with the effects of this pandemic and provide compassionate care for all patients who need it. We are truly grateful for the acts of kindness and generosity that we have received from our community so far, but we still need your help!

We are working diligently to quickly expand our resources to include additional life-saving equipment, hire additional care givers, acquire personal protective equipment for our staff, and expand critical care beds for the surge of patients who will need to be hospitalized.

Never has the importance of a local hospital been more evident than now. And being backed by a thriving healthcare system has been vital in WellSpan's ability to respond to this crisis. But, dealing with COVID-19 will require strong financial support from our communities.

I Want to Donate Masks

WellSpan Health is joining the 100 Million Mask Challenge, an initiative launched by the American Hospital Association to help meet growing demand for masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are now accepting donations for hand-made fabric masks. Hand-made fabric masks slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.  While hand-made fabric masks are not considered normal hospital personal protective equipment, they may have a use in this rapidly changing environment. Thank you for helping our staff on the front-line as we protect and care for all in our community.

While you are creating or donating these masks, we encourage you to participate in the 100 Million Masks campaign on social media by sharing photos of you making masks, wearing a mask, or donating your masks with the hashtags #100MillionMasks and #WellSpanMasks.

I Want to Give Food

We are so appreciative of our community’s overwhelming generosity and the willingness to provide food to our caregivers and providers. We are so grateful. We are all experiencing a new reality in our homes and personal lives in the handling of packages and groceries. It is with that same air of caution that we are implementing guidelines in how we accept food into our WellSpan facilities. We thank you for your donation and helping keep our team safe.

Please read the food safety guidelines and complete the form: Please Help Now.

I Want to Volunteer

While we appreciate people wanting to volunteer during the COVID-19 pandemic and all year long, we are not allowing volunteers at this time. You can help us by staying home and practicing social distancing.

Available Clinicians

While we have suspended traditional volunteer work during this time, there is a need for retired clinicians to volunteer to help support COVID-19 response.

If you are a retired clinician who is willing and able to volunteer during the COVID-19 response, please complete the clinician volunteer form and a member of our staff will reach out to you.

I Want to Give Blood

Patients still need your help during the COVID-19 situation. Some community blood drives have been canceled, but demand is still in the community. If you are well, donating blood is safe and needed.

  • Blood donation is not a social gathering
  • Donation sites use good infection control
  • Only healthy individuals are advised to donate blood.

If you are not feeling well, please do not come in to donate. If you have had contact with a person known to have COVID-19, please do not donate for 28 days.

If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, please do not donate blood for 28 days after your symptoms have resolved.

People Who Have Fully Recovered from COVID-19

WellSpan Health Blood Donor Services is seeking people who are fully recovered from the new coronavirus to help current COVID-19 patients. People who have fully recovered from COVID-19 have antibodies in their plasma that can attack the virus. This convalescent plasma is being evaluated as treatment for patients with serious or immediately life-threatening COVID-19 infections.

You may qualify to donate plasma for coronavirus patients if you meet specific convalescent plasma and regular blood donation eligibility requirements. Donations will be made at WellSpan Health Blood Donor Services in York and Lebanon.
