Offering Programs to Help our Community Live Well

Get Outdoors (GO) Program
Over 5,200 families received rubbing sheets for this outdoor physical activity program aligned to the libraries' summer reading initiative. While the pandemic created some barrier, 40 percent of families actively participated by walking over 30,551 miles on trails across all five counties. Over the past 14 years, Get Outdoors (GO) participants hiked about 325,000 miles – the equivalent of orbiting the Earth 13 times!

10 Pound Throwdown - Community weight loss challenge
More than 9,500 participants engaged in the personal and team community-wide virtual challenge.

Diabetes Management Classes
Ten participants engaged in the four-week health education program in Franklin County. Diabetes counselors provided one-to-one and group sessions across all five counties.

A Healthy You
Engaged 80 community members in an eight-week education series on healthy living.

National Diabetes Prevention Program (Prevent T2)
This CDC-recognized program engaged 24 participants in three class series that ended within the fiscal year in Franklin County. The goal of this year-long program is to prevent and/or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes by decreasing weight and increasing physical activity for all participants. Since this program has been offered, 83 percent of participants who completed at least nine months achieved an average of 150 minutes of physical activity per week. Seventy-eight percent of those participants lost at least 5 percent total body weight.

Holiday Wellness Workshops
Engaged with 48 attendees at two workshops in Franklin County.

Tobacco Cessation Services
The team of certified tobacco cessation counselors conducted over 450 counseling sessions with individuals for tobacco cessation.

Virtual Cooking Demonstrations
Our team of dieticians and health educators engaged nearly 700 people through virtual and outdoor healthy recipe demonstrations.

Virtual Yoga for a Healthy Heart
Engaged 25 individuals during two yoga sessions in Franklin County.
