Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, WellSpan Health

Mr. Murphy joined WellSpan Health as chief technology officer in November 2010. Under his leadership, WellSpan has built and delivered MyWellSpan, a meaningful use-certified patient portal that continuously adds new features to delight patients. He introduced agile development to WellSpan's IS staff and has aggressively driven virtualization technologies, including the introduction of virtual desktops, which provide highly available systems to clinicians.

Mr. Murphy is passionate about utilizing technology to assist clinicians in providing excellent care to patients. Examples of these applications include tele-neurology systems for quicker stroke diagnosis and treatment in the emergency department, closed-loop medication administration with infusion devices for safety and efficiency, and direct EMR integration of vital signs devices.  

Prior to joining WellSpan, Mr. Murphy served as chief technology officer for the Sisters of Mercy Health System. He also led the Enterprise Messaging and Tools and Architecture teams at Southwest Airlines and contributed to the development of SWABIZ, Southwest Airlines' website for business travel, and MySouthwest, the personalized site for traveling with Southwest Airlines.

About the provider search

This search will provide you with WellSpan Medical Group and Northern Lancaster County (Ephrata) Medical Group primary care physicians and specialists. If we don’t have a WellSpan Medical Group physician to meet your criteria, the search will expand to include community physicians who partner with WellSpan Medical Group physicians through the WellSpan Provider Network or provide care to patients on the Medical Staffs of WellSpan’s Hospitals.

If you are not enrolled in MyWellSpan, go to www.mywellspan.org, call 1-866-638-1842 or speak with a member of the staff at a participating facility to sign up. As you progress through the scheduling process, you will be able to schedule an appointment with any provider or practice that already counts you as a patient.
