Current Smoking Cessation Programs

Knowing that each person who wants to become tobacco free has different preferences and needs, WellSpan offers several smoking cessation program options:


Group Cessation Classes

WellSpan Health offers the Freedom From Smoking Program, developed by the American Lung Association for free in York and Adams counties. Considered the gold standard in tobacco cessation, this eight-session program is designed to help people quit smoking, fight the addiction and develop a smoke-free lifestyle.

In Lancaster County, we also offer the Tobacco Free Wellness Series, a 7-session tobacco cessation program appropriate for individuals who smoke cigarettes, pipes and cigars or use smokeless tobacco products. This series is also offered free of charge.

One-on-one Counseling

We offer free, one-on-one tobacco treatment planning sessions. During these sessions, a certified tobacco cessation counselor will:

    • Assess your dependence on nicotine
    • Review strategies and coping skills
    • Develop a tailored “quit plan” specific to your lifestyle
