Children's Wellness Days

Children’s Wellness Days is a yearly event for York County third graders that teaches good health lifestyles using the theme of “Wellness is a Rainbow.”  The York Hospital Auxiliary is responsible for the general planning and underwriting for this event.  The event focuses on teaching more than 1,300 students how to make positive decisions for leading a healthy life.

York County schools receive invitations to the free, half-day program where students learn about:

  • Keeping their body healthy by making good food choices
  • Building a strong body through exercise
  • Keeping safe with advice from a local fireman and policeman
  • Using their words when they are hurt or sad
  • How students with physical challenges handle their unique situations

Students are also reminded that they are special and encouraged to stay away from drugs and tobacco.

The York Hospital Auxiliary was recognized as a finalist in the Children’s Health Advocate category of the Central Penn Parent’s Healthcare Heroes awards program held in March 2011.

In May 2013, Children’s Wellness Days celebrated its 32nd year.
