WellSpan Health is proud to announce the donation of a vehicle from its WellSpan emergency medicine fleet to the borough of Mount Wolf and its Eagle Fire Company water rescue team to help improve the response time and expand the capabilities of operations on waterways in and around York County.
The vehicle, a Ford F450 ambulance, will now allow the team to suit up and collaborate while riding in the rear of the vehicle enroute to an emergency scene, saving valuable time.
“When we say that every second counts, we mean that every step of the way. Collaborating with community partners ensures the highest-quality care possible,” said Dr. Michael Seim, senior vice president and chief quality officer, WellSpan Health. “To know
that this donation will help improve response times in an emergency underscores our commitment to the communities to serve, beyond just the walls of our hospitals.”
“Eagle Fire Company is grateful for the dedication and commitment WellSpan has shown with this generous donation of this new water rescue unit to York County and the surrounding communities,” said Jacob Bush, chief of Eagle Fire Company in Mount Wolf. “This is a major upgrade to our water rescue capabilities and an asset that will be used countywide in the response to specialized, potentially lifesaving water rescue calls. WellSpan’s commitment will help to save lives and provide a safer response for our dedicated volunteers.”
The vehicle is already in service with the Eagle Fire Company, following the official donation in the fall of 2024. It is now wrapped in yellow and white to match the department branding. It was previously used by WellSpan EMS for emergency response and patient transport but has since been replaced by a new vehicle in that fleet.
