New board chair and vice chair appointments headline changes to the WellSpan Health Central Region Board of Directors for 2025. Cheryl Thompson, who previously held the position of vice chair in 2024, has been named the new board chair. Krista Darr has assumed the role of vice chair.
“As prior vice chair for the board, Cheryl is well positioned to guide our board in ensuring we continue to provide high-quality care that aligns with our charitable mission to improve the health of all the communities we serve,” said Victoria Diamond, senior vice president of WellSpan Health’s Central Region. “This board is committed to delivering on its goals so that WellSpan may continue to thrive as the region’s preeminent health system.”
The WellSpan Central Region Board of Directors is a volunteer governing board serving WellSpan York Hospital and WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital. Members are elected to three-year terms, with officer terms lasting one year.
New board chair: Cheryl Thompson, nursing education consultant
Thompson began her career in intensive care nursing before moving into nursing academia. Her teaching expertise lies in community and population health, and she has extensive experience teaching at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Thompson has held leadership roles focusing on curriculum planning and evaluation and has developed strategies to improve student learning. She has published, presented and authored two books on supporting success in nursing education and new graduate career transitions.
New board vice chair: Krista Darr, director of commercial and middle market banking, Fulton Bank
With 32 years of experience in the banking industry, Darr drives strategy and provides oversight to a team of relationship managers working with business customers. In addition to her leadership role at Fulton Bank, Krista has held various non-profit leadership roles including past president of the York County Community Foundation and the Downtown Inc. Board of Directors. Darr has also served on the boards of the United Way of York County, York County History Center, Martin Library and Penn State York Advisory. Darr is a member of the White Rose Venture Investment Committee, Powder Mill Foundation Investment Committee, Shippensburg University Woods Honor College Advisory Council and a Leadership York mentor.
