Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
From a young age, I was profoundly influenced by my father, who was a physician. However, the history of medicine in my family dates back even further. I am a fourth-generation physician. As I was growing up, I would follow my father around the hospital making his rounds. Seeing how he made his patients feel and how they looked to him when they were vulnerable made a significant impact on my choice of becoming a physician.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I started off in primary care in the outpatient setting and worked as a PCP for two and a half years until I decided to transition to become an internal medicine hospitalist allowing me to care for patients with more acute issues. Practicing medicine in the hospital has allowed me to spend more time with my patients and develop the relationship that I saw my father have with his patients.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
When I am not working in the hospital, I enjoy physical activity. I am an avid runner and have lost a lot of weight by exercising and eating healthy. I also enjoy cooking, walking my two dogs and spending time with my wife. I volunteer once a month a the Lebanon Free Clinic to stay sharp on my outpatient skills.
