Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I am the Site Director of Radiation Oncology at WellSpan York Cancer Center and formerly Johns Hopkins faculty attending physician. I specialize in treating tumors of the prostate, brain, lung, and head & neck. Radiation treatment for these tumors includes brachytherapy (seeds), stereotactic radiosurgery/stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and proton therapy. I led the Hopkins team that developed the SBRT program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and treated the first SBRT patient at Hopkins.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I strive to give every one of my patients the same care I would give my own family. I think a physician needs three things to succeed in this way: (1) The physician has true, deep concern for his patient and really understands that the patient's life is being entrusted to him; (2) the physician is experienced and knowledgeable and always up-to-date; and (3) the physician is able to access the state-of-the-art technology for his patient. Cancer treatment is absolutely one of the most difficult times in a person's life and when a cancer patient entrusts the doctor with his or her life, only with the most serious commitment can the doctor be allowed to accept this trust. This is my commitment to my patients.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I was born in Jerusalem, Israel. I am married and a father of two. I am a pianist and an avid cyclist.
