Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
There are several medical professionals in my family. We share a common trait—our love for helping others. I had no desire be become a CRNP until I worked in a crisis center. I went back to school to better serve the mental health population, which is often under served. CRNPs are nurturing, understanding, responsible, scientific educators. Nursing is about passion and a job of service. In psychiatry, we share other's most private and vulnerable moments and, in turn, often discover things about ourselves. I cannot see myself working with any other population. The brain is amazing!
What I want my patients to know about me:
Being a CRNP is not just a job. I take my role seriously. I am caring, contentious and fair. I strive to be a good listener. If I am unsure about something, I will ask my collaborative to ensure you are receiving the best care possible. I am a structured person, and I like to run my appointments on time. Emergencies do arise, but you can be assured that I will spend adequate time with you, as well. I follow best practices and evidence-based care guidelines set by the American Academy of Psychiatry.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
You may find me in an antique shop. Or, I could be at a bookstore. I enjoy going to flea markets and yard sales. I love boating on the Chesapeake Bay. I love animals, and currently two cats own me. I enjoy baking when I can find the time. Most of all, I love spending time with my family and friends. Okay, I must admit, I love to go shopping and love a good bargain.
