Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I chose medicine/surgery because it combines a quest for knowledge with a way to make a meaningful contribution to patients' lives. I appreciate the combined operative and medical management of patients. As a trauma critical care surgeon, I am able to care for both long- and short-term patient needs. I enjoy team-based patient management.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am extremely engaged, dedicated and passionate about the patients I take care of. The use of clinical knowledge and technical skills, combined with the experience of dealing with a variety of people on a daily basis, makes surgery a field that is challenging and satisfying. I am board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. I also have a degree in negotiation and dispute resolution. I am a past president of The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I am married, and my wife and I are raising four wonderful children. I enjoy hiking, fishing, shooting and camping as an outlets to recapture life balance.
