Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I can honestly say that I only ever wanted to pursue two jobs in my life. Once the realization set in that a career in the NBA was not going to happen, I decided on a career in medicine. I have always been interested in the scientific aspect of medicine. More importantly though, the human relationships integral to the physician/patient relationship cemented my career choice. I have now been practicing interventional cardiology for over a decade and I still love living in a community with my patients. It's a privilege to care for them and to gain their trust on a daily basis.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am very fortunate that my parents instilled in me the value of hard work. I bring that trait with me every day. Whether I am working in the cath lab or in my personal life, I always try my best and am not afraid to make personal sacrifices "to get the job done." I also try to live by the golden rule in everything I do. I treat my patients how I would want myself or my family to be treated. I have learned that by simply working hard and treating patients with respect, success is going to follow more times than not.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and trying to do something that resembles being athletic. I love being outside, working out, watching my children participate in sports and watching sports on TV. Go Irish!
