WellSpan Health offers many helpful cancer support groups and individual support services for cancer patients and survivors, patients' family members and caregivers, as well as interested community members. Below, explore resources located in your community. All groups and events are free, and most do not require pre-registration.


Adams County Area Cancer Support Groups

The Adams Cancer Center offers patients access to ongoing support programs that include: Breast Health Awareness, Encore (YWCA of Gettysburg and Adams County), Reach to Recovery (American Cancer Society), Adams County Breast Cancer Coalition (Healthy Adams County), Prostate Health Awareness, Reducing Your Cancer Risk, and Caring for the Cancer Patient.

Annual Cancer Survivor Day: Held the first Sunday in June, this celebration is for cancer patients and families. Call the Adams Cancer Center at (717) 339-2657 for information.

Bereavement Class: This eight-session class helps individuals deal with issues of loss and grief. Call pastoral care at 717-337-4300 for information.

Encore Breast Cancer Support Group: Meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Gettysburg YWCA from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Call (717) 339-2657 for more information.

Lymphedema Support Group: Meets every Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the WellSpan Adams Health Center.  Call Paula Chaplin at (717) 337-4407 for more information.


Franklin County Area Cancer Support Groups

Chambersburg Breast Cancer Support Group: The support group welcomes the newly diagnosed, all survivors of any number of years, family members and friends. The day group meets at 11 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month and the evening group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month. Gynecological Cancer Support Group: This group is open to women who have experienced any gynecological cancers, including ovarian, uterine/endometrial, cervical, vulvar or vaginal cancers. Ladies can be newly diagnosed, in active treatment, or a survivor of any amount of time. Meetings are held the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Hennessey Home Wellness Center, 243 North Seventh Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Lebanon County Area Cancer Support Groups

Breast Cancer Support Group: Meets the third Wednesday each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sechler Family Cancer Center. Open to patients and survivors of breast cancer, this group provides emotional support and encouragement to one another, as well as special education programs on topics like nutrition and emotional health. General Cancer Support Group: Meets the first Tuesday each month from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Sechler Family Cancer Center. Open to survivors of cancer and their caregivers, this group provides emotional support and encouragement to one another, as well as special education programs on topics like nutrition and emotional health. Head and Neck Cancer Support GroupOffered Quarterly, 1st Monday of the month 5:00pm - 6:00pm. Remaining 2021 dates: July 12th and October 4th 2021. Open to patients and survivors of head and neck cancers, this group provides emotional support and encouragement to one another, as well as special education programs on topics like nutrition and emotional health.  Pre-registration IS required. Rehabilitation After Breast Cancer:  Meets the second month of each quarter on the first Monday from 3-4 pm at The Sechler Family Cancer Center. Open to breast cancer patients to discuss exercise and tips to prevent lymphedema after lumpectomy or mastectomy.  Presented by Jennifer Burkholder, Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Vitality 2021: Nutrition, Physical Activity and Stress Management for Your Wellbeing.  Meets virtually, the 4th Monday of each month from 12-1 p.m. This group, led by a dietitian and personal trainer, provides evidence-based recommendations for healthful eating, physical activity and stress management to optimize your health and vitality. York County Area Cancer Support Groups

Annual Cancer Survivor Day: Held in June, this celebration day is for cancer patients and their families. Call the York Cancer Center at (717) 741-8100 for more information.

Breast Friends Breast Cancer Survivors of York: A support group for women who have affected by breast cancer. Peer support and education offered in an informal setting. Meets the second Tuesday of each month 6:45-8:15 p.m., at the Jewish Community Center, 2000 Hollywood Dr., York Pa 17403. Please call Amy Milsten at (717) 870-6303 for more information.

Cancer Prayer Support Group: Support group with emotional and spiritual emphasis for cancer patients and their families. Meets the first and third Tuesday every month at Christ's American Baptist Church, Spring Grove and at Dr. Marc Hirsch's office, 777 Cherry Tree Ct., Hanover. Hearts Can Heal: An eight-session class for grieving children held at Olivia's House as needed. For more information, please call Olivia's House at (717) 699-1133.

HOPE Support Group (Help for Oncology Problems & Emotional Support): Support and educational group organized for southern York County. The focus of each support meeting will be on cancer education and the emotional needs of patients and their families. The group meets the second Wednesday of every month. Kids Under Construction: Support group for children who have loved ones with cancer. Call the York Cancer Center at (717) 741-8100 or Barbara Titanish at (717) 227-2824 for more information.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Support: Family support group program for patients and families who would like to meet others coping with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma or Hodgkin's Disease. Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Support Network: Support and educational group for oral, head & neck, and laryngectomy cancer patients. Meets the second Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. Companions are welcome to attend. Call (717) 741-8100 for more information. 

Pathways Center for Grief and Loss: Grief counseling is available for anyone coping with a serious illness or loss of a loved one. Individual or family sessions, as well as a wide variety of support services and educational workshops, are available. WellSpan Women Winning & Wellness Virtual Support Group: Support for survivors and caregivers of gynecological cancers. If you are newly diagnosed, in midst of treatment, experiencing a recurrence, transitioning to aftercare, no longer have the cancer, or years away from when you were initially diagnosed, please consider this support group. White Rose Bereavement:  A support group for family members who have lost a loved one. The group meets at 998 S. Russell Street, York Pa 17402 (meets in the Community Room). Call (717) 900-6871 for more information.
