Pennsylvania Department of Adult Probation and Parole Evaluations
Providers perform initial psychological assessments or psychological evaluations for our county Judges as they are requested. Any appropriate diagnosis and treatment recommendations are provided as requested and appropriate. These services are funded through a contract with York and Adams County Mental Health Mental Retardation Program. Specifically, at the request of a York County Judge, he will most often go to the York County Prison and do a comprehensive diagnostic interview. The purpose of the interview is to provide the Court with any appropriate mental health diagnosis and treatment recommendations that are considered warranted. He does not provide any specific psychological testing as there is usually a known mental health problem or history. Also included in the evaluation is any background information provided by the adult probation department.
Michael Gobel, M.S. has worked in the mental health field since March of 1973. He started in providing crisis intervention services. He completed his Masters Degree at Millersville University in 1980. He became a licensed psychologist in 1981. He has provided psychological services in the York County Prison since 1980 first for staff or correctional officers and then changing over to providing service for inmates.
