Visitor Guide

Visiting Hours & Guidelines

Beginning October 1, 2014, all WellSpan hospitals will implement new patient-directed visitation practices as a way of partnering with our patients to better meet their individual needs and improve their overall care experience.

Patient-directed visitation means the patient, in collaboration with his/her care team, will establish visiting parameters that best suit their individual circumstances throughout the length of the care experience.

Addressing the needs of the patient and recognizing that family members are vital participants in the care and healing of our patients, patient-directed visitation allows family and visitor access to the patient at any appropriate time.

Please click on the one of the choices below for specific visiting guidelines at each hospital:

Tips for Visitors:

Visits from relatives and friends are always welcome during the established visiting hours (see above for specific visiting hours and policies at each WellSpan hospital). Please remember that visits can be tiring for the patient. Rest is an important part of the patient's recovery, so please respect the patient's health and needs.

All WellSpan facilities follow a set of campus policies designed to promote the safety, conform and health of our patients, visitors and staff. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with these guidelines. A few other things to keep in mind when you visit:

  • Please consider the health of others. Please do not visit if you feel ill or have a cold.

  • Gentle behavior is best in the hospital setting. Keep voices at a low volume so you do not disturb or alarm others. Running through hallways is disruptive and dangerous.

  • Patients are warmed and comforted by a smile and pleasant conversations. Remember, voicing your own concerns and troubles won't speed the patient's recovery.

  • Choose your gifts well. Plants and reading materials may raise spirits, help pass time and can be taken home. Please review WellSpan's campus guidelines for more details.

  • The quality of your visit is much more important than the length of time spent with the patient.
