Specific procedures include:
CABG is performed when there is significant narrowing and blockage of the coronary arteries. CABG surgery creates new routes around the narrowed and blocked arteries, allowing sufficient blood flow to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the heart muscle.
Heart Valve Surgery is performed when a there are narrowed valves or improperly closing valves that allow blood to leak back in the wrong direction.
Lung/Thoracic Surgery is performed when there are diseases of the chest, including cancers of the lung, esophagus, chest wall, emphysema, and esophageal swallowing problems.
Vascular Surgery is performed when there is disease of non-cardiac arteries and veins. This can include the arteries in the neck (carotid), abdomen, lower extremities (femoral/popliteal), and venous disease (thromboembolism).
