Cholesterol is a waxy substance produced by the body and taken in with food. When there is too much of the waxy substance on the walls of the arteries, you face a dramatically higher risk of a complete blockage, leading to a heart attack or stroke.

The Cholesterol Management Program assists individuals in achieving healthy cholesterol through lifestyle changes and medication.

The following services are available through the Cholesterol Management Program:

  • Initial review of medical and family history to help identify possible causes of high cholesterol and determine cholesterol goals
  • Blood work education and monitoring
  • Education on low-fat, low-cholesterol diets, as well as medication necessary in reducing cholesterol numbers
  • Medications, as needed, to assist in achieving cholesterol goals
  • Regular progress reports to your family doctor to review your plan of care

Referrals

A physician referral from your primary care physician or cardiologist is recommended for the Cholesterol Management Program.

About the provider search

This search will provide you with WellSpan Medical Group and Northern Lancaster County (Ephrata) Medical Group primary care physicians and specialists. If we don’t have a WellSpan Medical Group physician to meet your criteria, the search will expand to include community physicians who partner with WellSpan Medical Group physicians through the WellSpan Provider Network or provide care to patients on the Medical Staffs of WellSpan’s Hospitals.
