Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF International, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
Three Year Accreditation from DNV
WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital received a three-year accreditation from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) in 2014. The hospital is one of only four in Pennsylvania to achieve DNV accreditation. DNV Healthcare is the leading accreditor of United States hospitals integrating ISO 9001 quality compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation. ISO 9001 is a series of standards that define, establish and maintain an effective quality assurance system.
NRC Picker Award: Path to Excellence
In September 2014, WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital was one of two hospitals with fewer than 100 beds selected as a top performing facility based the highest percentage of patients rating them a nine or 10. Winners were selected from the extensive database of National Research hospital clients for their performance over the past four quarters. Implementing improvement processes requires an immense amount of time and resources. Winning this award demonstrates that WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital understand what it truly means to define patient-centered care.
WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital was identified as one of eight hospitals in the country where 95 percent, or more, of patients responded “Yes, I would definitely recommend this hospital,” based on HCAHPS survey results reported to CMS’ Hospital Compare databases. The results are for post-surgery patients.
The Reliability Centered Maintenance program and infrastructure systems design created for WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital has been recognized by UpTime Magazine as the program of the year in the category of Best Design for Reliability in 2012.
This is a new, international award that was created after the selection committee saw how the WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital infrastructure was being designed and the condition-based maintenance procedures that were developed to maintain the equipment. The award recognizes the work that went into the design of the hospital to incorporate preventive maintenance. The result is a facility that that should have very little downtime.
