WellSpan York Hospital nurses announced as finalists in prestigious ‘Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania’

WellSpan York Hospital’s two finalists are among a group of nearly 25 nurses throughout the state

WellSpan Health today announced that two nurses at WellSpan York Hospital have been selected as finalists in the prestigious “Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania.”

Abigail Strouse, director of clinical services, WellSpan York Hospital and Angela Uhler, nurse manager, WellSpan York Hospital are among the nearly 25 finalists in nine categories.

Strouse is a finalist in the “Nursing Administration – Executive” category and Uhler in the “Nursing Administration – Leader/Manager” category.

In addition, Kimberly Fenstermacher of York College is a finalist in the “Nursing Research” category. Fenstermacher lends clinical research support to WellSpan nurses through an ongoing educational partnership between York College and WellSpan Health. 

“We have a very proud tradition here at WellSpan York Hospital. Year after year, we continue to have nurses of such a high caliber who are recognized by the Nightingale Awards,” said Astrid Davis, vice president of patient care services, WellSpan York Hospital, who won the Nightingale Award for nursing administration 2010. “These are nurses who have the patients’ best interest at heart and commit to providing exceptional care to every patient, every time.”

Last year, Emily Huggins, manager of WellSpan York Hospital’s forensic nurse examiner program, won in the “Community Nursing” category.

The “Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania” finalists will be honored and the winners will be declared at the organization’s 28th Annual Gala, Nov. 3 in Camp Hill. The “Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania” is a statewide, philanthropic organization whose purpose is to create, cultivate and support environments where professional nursing achievements are valued.
