Being a summer volunteer may be the ideal position for your son, daughter or neighbor.
The summer program runs from June 2 through Aug. 15. Summer volunteers must be at least 14 years old and have completed the eighth grade.
Volunteer shifts are typically 8 a.m. to noon, noon to 4 p.m. or 4-8 p.m. Summer volunteers must commit to 100 hours during the program, which is approximately 12 hours per week. Volunteers are given two weeks off during the summer in order to enjoy vacations and/or camps.
The summer volunteer program has a variety of opportunities, so applicants must be flexible and open to many different types of volunteer positions within health care.
Applicants may not be placed in an assignment that is their first choice. Placement is determined by Volunteer Services. Application deadline is Friday, March 14.
Applications will be reviewed by Volunteer Services. If initial qualifications are met, applicants will be contacted via email regarding an interview in March. Due to the popularity of the program, only a limited number of applicants will be accepted.
If accepted into the program, applicants will be required to attend an orientation session, patient transport training and a health screening during April and May.
Anyone interested in being part of the summer volunteer program can complete an online application at www.wellspan.org/volunteer.
