Services

WellSpan provides a range of services for women with pelvic and rectal dysfunction/abnormalities which might include any of the following problems:

  • Incontinence of bladder or bowel (loss or leakage of urine or stool)
  • Pelvic organ prolapse: cystocele, rectocele, enterocele, uterine procidentia (fallen bladder, dropped uterus/womb)
  • Pelvic pain
  • Interstitial cystitis (painful, frequent urination)
  • Hematuria (blood in the urine)
  • Dyspareunia, vulvodynia, vaginismus (painful sexual intercourse, external vulvar pain)
  • Chronic, recurrent and difficult to treat vulvovaginitis (yeast or bacterial infections of the vagina or vulva)
Diagnostic Testing
  • Urodynamics (evaluates urinary disorders and their causes) including complex cystometrogram (evaluates bladder's ability to store and release urine)
Treatments

Non-surgical treatments include:

  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation (physical therapy, introduction of Kegel's exercises)
  • Electrical stimulation (for pelvic floor and rectal muscle rehabilitation)
  • Pessary use (prosthetic option for pelvic organ prolapse)
  • Medication
  • Dietary Management
  • Vaginal flora assessment and normalization (homeopathic treatments to correct and stabilize acidic levels in the vagina)

Surgical treatments include:

  • Cystoscopy (telescope which views the inside of the bladder)
  • Diagnostic and Operative Laparoscopy (for evaluation and treatment of pain and other pelvic disorders)
  • Minimally invasive treatments for stress urinary incontinence (urethral slings)
  • Reconstructive surgery for pelvic relaxation or prolapse (repair of cystocele, rectocele, enterocele, uterine prolapse)

Insurance and Fees

Urogynecology has established a fee schedule that we will be willing to discuss with you at any time.

We participate in many health plans, including SOUTH CENTRAL Preferred, Pennsylvania Blue Shield and many others. Co-payments are due at the time of your visit. Please call our office if you would like to find out if we participate in your plan.
