After meeting $100 deductible, Medicare covers 80% of strips and lancets. Will pay for 100 strips per month if patient uses insulin and 100 strips per 3 months if insulin is not used (may get exceptions if needed). Prescription needs to be written (not phoned in) and needs to have ICD9 code and frequency of testing on it. Not all pharmacies participate with Medicare so check details with your pharmacy. Most mail order suppliers work well with Medicare. |
