Whether it's caused by arthritis, diabetes, back injury, migraine headaches, cancer, surgery or long-term illness, pain affects every part of your life, and makes the most simple tasks seem difficult. What's more, pain can be an emotional as well as a physical drain on you and your family. If you suffer from chronic pain, you're not alone. Approximately one-third of all Americans face the challenges of living with pain. But there is help. The York Hospital Pain Relief Center is dedicated to finding effective pain relief. We work closely with our patients to increase physical abilities, resume work or leisure interests, lessen the need for pain medication, renew a sense of well-being and improve quality of life. Comprehensive AssessmentUsing the latest in clinical and diagnostic procedures, the York Hospital Pain Relief Center experts will review your previous treatment, conduct a physical examination and provide a thorough evaluation of your pain condition. Then, you and your physician will develop a complete individualized treatment plan. Methods of TreatmentPain can be treated with a combination of both noninvasive and invasive modalities. Treatment at the York Hospital Pain Relief Center is based on your particular pain and is modified to meet your changing needs. In addition to the more invasive interventions that are available at the York Hospital Pain Relief Center, the physicians, nurse practitioner and staff may utilize a wide range of medications, physical therapy, psychosocial counseling, patient support groups and other alternative approaches to pain management. Thanks to the advanced technologies available at York Hospital, implantable therapies such as spinal cord stimulators, intraspinal drug infusion and procedures which actually disable their nerves carrying the pain message, become viable-and successful-treatments for pain relief. AppointmentsBecause the physicians at the York Hospital Pain Relief Center work hand-in-hand with your own physician, you can be sure your best interests are always our primary consideration. A referral from your physician is needed to make use of the many services at the York Hospital Pain Relief Center. Our ProvidersThe York Hospital Pain Relief Center features a panel of experienced and skilled community-based physicians with advanced training in pain management. Frederick Flaccavento, M.D., received his medical education at the University of Maryland, completed his internship and residency at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. He completed a pain management fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson University Medical School in 1996. Dr. Flaccavento is board certified in anesthesiology with a subspecialty in pain medicine. He has earned the designation as Diplomate from the American Board of Pain Medicine. To-Nhu Vu, M.D., received her medical education from Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine, completed an internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering-Cancer Center and a residency in Anesthesiology at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. She completed a pain management fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Mass. in 1998. After completing her fellowship, she became an attending physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and an instructor at Harvard Medical School. During this time, she also served as the Pain Management Fellowship Director. Dr.Vu is board certified in anesthesiology with a subspecialty certification in pain management. Linda Horner C.R.N.P., is a board certified family nurse practitioner. A graduate of the York Hospital School of Nursing, she attained her BSN and MSN in Community Health Nursing from the University of Maryland in 1997. Linda received her Family Nurse Practitioner postgraduate certification in 2002 from Millersville University followed by advanced pain management training from Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, NY. |
