Services

WellSpan Midlife Services is a consultative service designed to improve women's healthcare throughout menopause. The program assesses peri-menopausal and menopausal women for common problems related to aging, combining physician consultation, personal assessment and education and many of a woman's necessary midlife tests into one or two appointments.

Staff not only help women through the tough changes associated with menopause, but with their thorough examination and testing protocol, they can also track more serious problems like heart disease, breast, ovarian and uterine cancer, and osteoporosis. Menopause doesn't have to be an embarrassing or complicated process.

Menopause Personal Assessment and Education

• A detailed midlife health profile and risk factor assessment
• A private consultation with a nurse educator, regarding midlife concerns, symptoms, personal and family history, lifestyle and wellness.
• Individualized resource materials based on assessment, including a book on midlife health
• Linkage to women's health services throughout WellSpan Health, including the Women's Heart Program, Comprehensive Breast Center, Osteoporosis Program, Behavioral Health Services and the WellSpan Center for Mind/Body Health.
• Cost: $25

Have a menopause assessment and heart risk evaluation together for $30.  To schedule a combined appointment, please call (717) 338-3294.

Medical Specialty Consultation (York location only)

• One-to-one consultation with Marian Damewood, MD, who will assess each woman individually and address the problems they often encounter in menopause.
• One-stop shopping with as many of the necessary testing performed as possible -- in one visit and one location
• A follow-up visit with Dr. Damewood to review all test results, risk assessment and medication management, as indicated. This visit also includes a lifestyle consultation with Dianne Moore, certified menopause educator.
• A complete consultation report, which is sent to the patient's primary care physician for ongoing care.
• Referral only

Menopause Discussion and Education Group

A series of four sessions, held in York, that provide women with the most recent information and the opportunity to share questions, insights and experiences.

Appointments

Insurance and Fees

WellSpan Midlife Services has established a fee schedule that we will be willing to discuss with you at any time. You are responsible for paying all fees, including co-payments, at the time of your office visit.

We participate in many health plans, including SOUTH CENTRAL Preferred, Pennsylvania Blue Shield and many others. Please call our office if you would like to find out if we participate in your plan.

We participate in Medicare, however we will bill you for any balance remaining after Medicare payment.

Other insurance companies may allow you to have them send payment directly to our office. If so, we encourage you to use this option, as it will save paperwork.
