Services for EmployersWellSpan Behavioral Health offers a variety of psychological tools that can aid employers in evaluating an employee's mental health status and help to anticipate or resolve potentially contentious situations in the workplace. Fitness for Duty ExaminationA Fitness for Duty Examination, performed by a psychiatrist or psychologist, is done to determine if a person's physical and mental health status is consistent with their ability to fulfill specific job requirements. The face-to-face examination requires an employee assessment that includes background information, salient issues that led to the request for the examination, mental status examination and review of treatment to date. In some cases, a psychological evaluation may be required. The following situations may warrant consideration for a Fitness for Duty Examination:
Pre-Employment ScreeningPre-employment screening, completed by a psychologist, is done to determine whether or not someone has the appropriate personality and psychological make-up to perform a specific job. Lethal Weapons EvaluationA Lethal Weapons Evaluation is done to determine whether or not someone has the appropriate personality make-up to be approved to receive lethal weapons training. This type of evaluation is commonly used for police officers and security guards. Personality TestingThis type of testing can be done with one person or a group of people who work together. The test, completed by a psychologist, is used to determine compatibility of personalities and the most effective manner for a group to work together. Substance Abuse EvaluationsA Substance Abuse Evaluation is conducted to determine whether an individual's use of drugs or alcohol might impair their ability to perform essential job functions. This type of evaluation is done to determine if the situation is related to alcohol abuse, bad judgment or dependency. One type of substance abuse evaluation is the Department of Transportation (DOT) Evaluation. The DOT evaluation is done to determine if a carrier or commercial driver, who tested positive for drugs or alcohol, is safe to return to their safety sensitive function. Dangerousness AssessmentsThis type of assessment is conducted to determine the potential for dangerousness in a variety of settings, including the workplace. Worker's Compensation/Disability EvaluationsThis type of evaluation is done to determine whether or not an employee is impaired to the degree that he or she claims to be. The outcome of the evaluation may determine eligibility for worker's compensation or disability benefits |
