The team is comprised of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses and licensed mental health professionals. This program is effective step-down from the inpatient setting or to avert an inpatient admission. Utilizing a structured group format, the MHIOP assists participants in developing skills that will facilitate a rapid return to the tasks of work, home and community. Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP)The Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SA-IOP) is a structured, active treatment program that is held 3 day/week. The program is for individuals whose use of alcohol or other drugs has impacted their ability to function successfully. The program helps participants to develop skills for making responsible decisions about personal substance use. Participants are involved in individual, family and group therapy. In addition to the Intensive Outpatient Program, WellSpan Behavioral Health offers outpatient groups that include aftercare following successful discharge from the IOP, relapse prevention and recovery groups and early intervention programs. DUI ProgramThe DUI program provides state mandated substance abuse evaluations, mandated highway safety educational classes and intervention programs for DUI offenders. The adult inpatient psychiatric program, located at York Hospital, offers patients with acute and severe psychiatric symptoms the most intensive program for comprehensive diagnostic services, stabilization and initiation of treatment. The structured, supportive environment utilizes a crisis stabilization model to identify key issues for the patient with specific recommendations for follow up treatment in an outpatient setting.

We've all felt anger; perhaps as a fleeting annoyance or as a full-fledged rage. When anger gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to major problems in personal and professional relationships. When not expressed appropriately, it can contribute to depression, anxiety and numerous health problems. If you feel that your anger is having a negative impact in your life and relationships with other people, you may want to consider our Anger Management Group Program. The structured group, which consists of 5-10 people, meets weekly for 10 consecutive weeks. For more information, call WellSpan EAP at (717) 851-6340. Women's Group A-Personality & Women's Group B-ChronicThis group offers clients the opportunity to address those issues that lead to mental health treatment (i.e. problems, symptoms, decreased functioning, etc) Clients are encouraged to increase their self acceptance, self-confidence and self respect in order to achieve improved functioning. Dialectical Behavior TherapyDialectical Behavior Therapy is a comprehensive treatment for complex, difficult-to-treat mental disorders. Originally developed to treat chronically suicidal individuals, DBT has evolved into a treatment for people with seemingly intractable mental disorders such as borderline personality disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder and eating disorders. The goal of DBT is to assist the patient in learning and refining skills that will help to change the way they think. The program is divided into four modules that focus on teaching the following skills: core mindfulness skills; interpersonal effectiveness skills; emotion regulation skills and distress tolerance. The group therapy program involves one skills training group per week, two to four individual therapy sessions per month, one psychiatric visit per month and one nursing group therapy per month. The group deals with stressors related to dual diagnosis and helps to develop appropriate coping skills. The program meets weekly for an hour. For more information, please call (717) 851-1500. Relapse Prevention GroupThis group is for clients with a substance abuse diagnosis that meets an outpatient level of care. The group discusses how to: identify relapse warning signs and triggers, cope with cravings and thoughts of using and the use of support systems. Theses clients should know the basics of addiction and recovery. Abstinence from drugs and alcohol is required. The group meets weekly for an hour. For more information, please call (717) 851-1500. Early Recovery GroupThis group is for clients who have a substance abuse diagnosis that meets an outpatient level of care. The group is designed for clients who are new to recovery and do not know the basics about addiction. The group covers topics such as abuse vs dependence; developing a support system; what recovery is; basics about drugs and alcohol, etc. Abstinence from drugs and alcohol is required. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder GroupThis group aims to ease the shame and isolation that often goes along with OCD and to tap the collective wisdom of members who have worked with this disorder for new resources and ideas for coping with and managing the disorder more effectively.
