Serving your health information needs

The Philip A. Hoover, M.D. Library serves the health information needs of the medical staff, house staff, nurses, students and employees of WellSpan Health. The collection includes medical, nursing, allied health, scientific and health administration materials.

Location:

The library is located in the Evans Medical Education Pavilion on first floor of the Main Building at York Hospital, and it occupies the original space set aside for a library in 1929.

Hours:

The library is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is closed on week-ends and holidays. We can be reached by phone at 851-2495 on regular work days if you would like to speak to a library staff member. We also respond to voice mail messages left after our regular hours.

The library is open for use by the York community during regular operating hours. Reference assistance will be provided to community patrons as time permits. A pay copier is available. Literature searches may be requested from a librarian on a fee-for-service basis. Borrowing privileges extend only to Wellspan Health employees and staff.

Information and User Services:

Hoover Library provides

• aid in locating factual and bibliographic information - by phone, mail, e-mail or in person
• online librarian-mediated search services of medical and health-related information
• nursing, medical, allied health and health administration database assistance
• instruction in use of various information sources
• interlibrary loan services

There are charges for some of our services. If you have questions, please feel free to ask.

Hoover Library also provides

• single copies of articles from library materials within 24 hours for staff and employees
• coin-operated copier for personal copying

In compliance with the U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S. Code), the library does not produce multiple copies of articles, more than one article per journal, or large portions of textbook materials.
