York Hospital Auxiliary

The York Hospital Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that provides a vital link between York Hospital and the York community. As stated in its mission, the York Hospital Auxiliary is a dedicated community volunteer organization which supports the York Hospital and the people it serves by advocating for improved community health through innovative programs, preventative education, community partnerships and fund raising.

If you are community-minded and like to plan or participate in projects that benefit the health of the entire community, consider becoming part of the York Hospital Auxiliary.

The Auxiliary's service to the community can be seen in various ways. Some of the highlights include:

• Helping to build new areas for patients and visitors at York Hospital. The most recent was their pledge of $500,000 to fund a café in the atrium of the York Hospital patient care tower.
• Providing educational opportunities for the staff and community, opportunities for the staff and community, such as the Geneva Freeman Scholarship and support of the Dedi Sykes VNA Staff Education Fund.
• Beautifying the health environment and making a patient's experience comfortable. Donations have included the York Cancer Center's serenity garden and stained glass windows.
• Helping to fund essential patient care services such as the Deaf Talk interpreting units for York Hospital.
• Promoting a healthy community, through funding:
  • Purchasing plastinated body organs to demonstrate how healthy organs look versus those that are diseased.
  • Sponsoring Camp Green Zone, an asthma camp for children that teaches self-care skills and improves their ability to maintain normal activity levels.
  • Teaching York County third graders how to make positive decisions for leading healthy life styles through Children's Wellness Days.
  • Baby's First Months video given to each mother-to-be who will deliver or has delivered a baby at York Hospital.
  • Providing infant car safety seats to families in need whose babies are born at York Hospital.
  • HealthConnect - new community-mobile outreach program
